NURLY ZHOL – ECONOMIC GROWTH DRIVER

In this year, 22 road projects with the total length of 4.4 thousand km of roads are envisaged under the Nurly Zhol State Infrastructure Development Program.

According to the Vice Minister for Investments and Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar at the briefing, reconstruction of Temirtau-Karaganda 14 km long road section of the Center-South Project is under way.

“We proceeded to implement the Kurty-Burylbaital section of 228 km long, which will be financed by the World Bank and European Bank. We also plan to begin construction and reconstruction of the North-Eastern bypass of Karaganda city using the Government budget by the end of the third quarter of the year. In 2018 we plan to start Balkhash-Burylbaital section (297 km) funded by the World Bank, and Kurty-Kapshagai (67 km), Karaganda-Balkhash (364 km) road sections in 2019 as well”, - the Vice Minister said.

This year 106 billion tenge has been allocated for the Center-East Project. The works covered 675 km of roads and by the end of the year it is planned to ensure 4-lane traffic on 230 km of the Astana-Pavlodar section, and also to complete the last 36 km section of Semei-Kalbatau road.

Denisovka-Kostanai section (114 km) of the Center-West Project is planned to be completed by 2020.

In addition, the Ministry has started the implementation of new projects, such as Zhetybai-Zhanaozen, Taldykorgan-Ust-Kamenogorsk, Merke-Burylbaital, Kalbatau-Maikapshagai, Usharal-Dostyk, Beineu-Akzhigit, Taskesken-Bakhty, Osinovskiy pass, Shchuchinsk-Zerenda with the length of 2,000 km.

“For the first half of the year, 112 billion tenge has been disbursed on implementation of the projects, 80,000 people are involved. At the year-end, 600 km of roads of I and II Categories are planned to be completed under the Program, including full completion Beineu-Aktau and Almaty-Taldykorgan,”- said Roman Sklyar.

The railway ferry complex of the Kuryk port launched under Nurly Zhol Program has transshipped 420,000 tons of cargo since the beginning of the year, and by the end of the year about 1 million tons will be transshipped through this terminal.

From the day the “dry port” at FEZ Khorgos - Eastern Gate has been commissioned till today, 191 thousand containers have been processed (in 2015 - 14 thousand containers; in 2016 - 87 thousand; and for 6 months of 2017 - 90 thousand).
