The Minister for Investments and Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr. Zhenis Kassymbek, spoke about the revealed defects during the construction of "Western Europe - Western China" road, the IIA "Kazinform" reports.

"There were actually three or four precedents under the revealed defects on the constructed section. In particular, on "Western Europe - Western China" corridor - one in the Zhambyl region, the other in South Kazakhstan"- said Zhenis Kassymbek.

According to the Minister, the "peeling of the road section" was detected in the Zhambyl region.

"And at the second section, the biggest Korean company discovered itself a defect - that reinforcement under concrete was incorrectly placed, and it suggested to change it itself. We have 2 years of Defects Liability Period under all these contracts. In case if defects are revealed within two years, the Contractor is obliged to restore everything at his own expense, if necessary, to lay the pavement again. For this we keep 5% bank guarantee from the value of the Contract during this period. This is quite tough measure, this experience was recommended by International Financial Institutions" added Mr. Zhenis Kassymbek.
