For the implementation of the new economic model, the reform of transport sector is being carried out aimed at the establishment of Kazakhstan as regional transport and logistic hub. 86 amendments to 12 laws have amended the legislation of the transport industry. The changes are aimed at the effective operation of a multimodal corridor, development of "Air Silk Road" and attracting investment for the construction of roads and the development of road infrastructure on the principle of PPP. This was announced today at the board meeting by Mr. Asset Issekeshev, the Minister for Investment and Development of Kazakhstan.

"In 2015, we launched a large-scale implementation of infrastructure projects of the "Nurly Zhol” program in all directions from Astana under ray principle. These projects have the anti-crisis nature, additional jobs are created"- said A. Issekeshev. According to him, in 2015 road construction works covered over 3.3 thousand km of public roads. All facilities involved about 100 thousand people. As a result, 3.5 thousand km of public roads were repaired, of which 1.7 thousand km of republican roads. At the same time, to ensure quality transportation of passengers and for increasing of volume taking into account the development of infrastructure in the current year the norms will be legislated creating conditions to attract private investment in the railway industry. This will attract more than 25 bln. KZT annually.

The minister also said that for the establishment of the country as regional transport and logistics hub the infrastructure projects construction is being carried out in the west and east of the country. In particular, the expansion of the Aktau port is being completed, "dry port" launched in the FEZ "Khorgos - Eastern Gate", the construction of the ferry complex in the port of Kuryk is going on. The major works on the new line Borzhakty - Ersai that connect ferry complex with Kuryk railway line are completed.
