On 20th of October 2011, Berik Kamaliyev, Minister of Transport and Communications, conducted the meeting regarding the matters of Project implementation “Big Almaty Circular Highway (BACH)”.

Opening the work of the meeting, Minister B.Kamaliev mentioned that implementation of this Project is at the permanent control of the Head of the State. First of all, the construction of diversion road is required for the community of the region, relief of traffic flow to the city and improvement of its environmental atmosphere.

 

In 2007 Akimat of Almaty city developed technical-economical justification for the construction of BACH. In 2010 construction documents were developed for the building of this road. The cost of the Project accounts for 79.5 billion KZT.

 

The length of the road is 70 km, including I А technical category with six lanes – 65 km and 5 km will be of I Б technical category with four lanes. Perspective traffic volume will be about 40 thousand vehicles a day.

 

Area of lands, subjected to acquisition for this project, is 761 ha for the amount of 18.5 billion KZT, including 119 ha of land plots, purchased in 2007, for the amount of 3.7 billion KZT.

 

In accordance with the Program for development of infrastructure in the Republic of Kazakhstan, implementation of the Project has been planned to implement on concession base in 2012-2014.

 

At present the Ministry of Transport and Communications, in association with Almaty Regional Akimat, started evaluation and purchase of lands. In addition MTC RK has proposed to involve for this Project the Consultant-Consortium ARUP, which has been supported by Eurasian Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). Tender for selection of concessioner will be announced in 2012 – Press-Service of the Ministry informs.
