It is planned to reconstruct 1700 km of road by the end of 2016, Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Roads of the Ministry for Investment and Development of Kazakhstan Amangeldy Bekov has informed in the CCS.
"Last year about 300 billion tenge was allocated for implementation of road projects. The work was done on eight projects. The main projects are "Western Europe - Western China", "Center-South - Centre-East", Almaty - Ust-Kamenogorsk, Astana - Petropavlovsk, Aktobe - Atyrau and Uralsk - Kamenka", A. Bekov has said.
According to him, 93% of the materials, used in the repair of roads, were produced in the country.
"About two thousand kilometers of roads were covered, more than 70 thousand people were involved in repair works. Of them, 80% were the local population. 93% of the materials, used in the repair of roads, were produced in the country. The road bitumen was supplied by four factories of Kazakhstan. More than 10 cement plants participated in the project. All this ensured full utilization of the existing production facilities. Overall, 456 km of roads were built and reconstructed in 2015", the speaker has said.
"This year, the work on the previously started sites will be continued. The length of the roads, which will be reconstructed, will be more than 1 700 km. Totally it is planned to open the passage throughout the transit corridor "Western Europe - Western China" in 2016. We plan to open traffic on 1000 km", he has added.
