Committee for Roads, Ministry of Industry and Infrastructural Development (MIID) of the Republic of Kazakhstan awarded the Project Management Consultancy (PMC) Services to KazdorNII, JSC in association with SAPA SZ LLP and KHA Inc, Canada for the implementation of the Rehabilitation and Reconstruction of the existing Kurty-Burylbaital Road (85km) Uzynagash- Otar Road (96 km) and Shymkent to Border of Zhambyl Oblast Road (40 km) which also includes 840m long Tunnel section. The above projects are being co-financed by the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) and the Republic of Kazakhstan under the South West Roads Project.
One of the scope of works of Project Management Consultancy services of the projects is to review and revise the existing Book of Standard Technical Specifications for the Construction and Repair of Roads and Bridges and the Technical Specifications currently being used for the construction of roads and bridges in Kazakhstan andprepared by different design organizations for different road projects.
The above Book of Standard Specifications,approved on June 1, 2004,was developed on the basis of the relevant standards, building codes and regulatory and technical documentations (GOST, SNiP, ST RK, etc.) and is used in the Republic of Kazakhstan for the construction and repair of roads.It is used forin the development design, tender and contract documentation with some modifications.
The draft Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction is being developed based on a review of the standard specifications of several countries, among which are USA, Canada, UK, Russia, Australian Standards
and adopting the appropriate normative and typical technical specifications, similar or close to developed countries level, that will cover major part of the construction and repair of roads and bridges and will be one for all similar works for the entire Kazakhstan and will comply with both national and internationalstandards.
Partially completed the draft document to all the parties concern for their review and comment in June 2019 and is planned to complete both in English and Russian by the end of February or in early March, 2020. After its completion, it shall be distributed to all the stakeholders including Association of Engineers in Kazakhstan, various Design and Construction Supervision Consultants, KazAutoZhol, Quality Center to seek their comments before producing the final version of the document before the end of 2020.
