In the East Kazakhstan oblast, reconstruction of the Kalbatau-Maikapshagai republican road with a length of 415 kilometers continues. The new road will halve the travel time, as well as increase the capacity and transit potential of the region.

To date, the China the road companies Xinxing Group and KazGerStroi have completed more than 4,500,000 cubic meters of the earthworks, and 85 Nos. of Culverts and 46 Nos. of Cattle crossings have been constructed. In addition, road workers of the above companies have constructed 73.8 km of the sand and gravel subgrade, 48.7 km of the subbase course, 27.8 km of high porous coarse-grained asphalt concrete base course and 19.5 km of dense coarse-grained asphalt concrete course. The Quality control of all the works have been is carried out by YVPEK-Astana.

After reconstruction, the new road will be of Category II with 2 lanes. The Road Project includes 38 Nos. of Bridges and Overpasses, 345 Nos. of Culverts and Cattle crossings, as well as 14 Nos. of Rest Areas. In total, 684 Nos. of Equipment and 1.357 Nos. of Personnel are involved in the reconstruction of the road. Full completion of the project is planned for 2022.

It is worthy to note that 2,807 km of republican roads run in the East Kazakhstan oblast, this is the largest road network among the regions. 82.2% of roads today are in good and satisfactory condition.

To remind, the development of the road infrastructure in Kazakhstan in 2020 includes construction and reconstruction of more than 4,000 km of republican roads, it is planned to open traffic for 2,600 km of roads.
