Reconstruction of the Aktobe - Atyrau – border of the Russian Federation (to Astrakhan) is ongoing. The length of the road in the region is 277 km.

The project is divided into 6 road sections. This year it is planned to open traffic on two sections: km 833-853 and km 853-893. Till date, 50% of the work has been completed. The road workers of the Contractor constructed 12 Nos. Bridges and 22Nos.Culverts. On the section of ​​km 648-693, preparation works have commenced for construction of a Bypass, procurement of road-building materials, and construction of the earthworks.

In addition, reconstruction will include resurfacing renewing stone mastic asphalt concrete along the entire length of the road, constructing 2 Nos. of Overpasses, 20 Nos. of Bridges, 36 Nos. of Bus Stops and 80 Nos. of Culverts. Fourteen Rest Areas will be constructed for Transit Drivers.

After reconstruction, the road will be improved from Category III to II. The reconstruction project is involved 740 Nos. of Personnel and 560 Nos. of Equipment.

The length of republican roads in the Atyrau oblast is 1,120 km, 98.6% of them are in good and satisfactory condition.
