The Committee for Roads of the MIID RK spoke about the construction of the Big Almaty Ring Road (BAKAD). According to the contract, the work should be completed in 2024, but, according to officials, they are ahead of schedule and will end in 2023, according to the Kolesa portal.
At the beginning of 2024, cars will be allowed to run along the highway and the user fee will be collected. According to preliminary data, 200 tenge from cars and 390 tenge from trucks, regardless of the number of kilometers travelled.
1125 people and about 500 units of dump trucks and special equipment are engaged in the constructon of the BAKAD. Two concrete and two crushing and screening plants are involved. Over the next couple of years, 38 bridge structures will be built on the highway, 21 of them by the end of 2021.
The BAKAD project is a 66 km road consisting of four and six lanes. It will run through 14 settlements in Karasai, Ili and Talgar districts of Almaty oblast. The route will become a key link in the Western China-Western Europe transit corridor.
The concession agreement for the construction of the Big Almaty Ring Road (BAKAD) was signed on February 7, 2018.
On May 31, 2018, the construction of the BAKAD began. The work was then expected to be completed in 2021.
