Total length of Western Europe – Western China Corridor on the territory of Zhambyl Oblast is 494 km. 111.9 km out of them have been completed and put into operation of 4-lane highway with cement concrete pavement.
At present 134.03 km of the highway with cement concrete pavement and 45.3 km of 2-lane highway with asphalt concrete pavement have been completed.
5 cement concrete plants, 9 asphalt concrete plants and 9 crushers have been involved in the construction of Zhambyl road section of transit corridor.
Plan for mobilization of the staff has been carried out successfully. Thus, as per status for May 31 of the current year, 2272 people have been mobilized, including international specialists – 137 people, 841 people are Kazakhstani, including 1294 people are local staff, 84 people out of them are women.
At present, the road sections, which have not been completed, are as follows: “Detour of mountain pass Kordai”, “Taraz By-Pass”, approach to Kyrgyzstan border. Construction works are ahead of schedule for the road section ‘Kulan village”, completion of which has been planned in August of the current year. The constructors promise to put fully into operation the road section of Zmabyl of International Transit Corridor in time, i.e. in 2015 upon sompletion of the Project “Taraz By-Pass”.
Problems, at solving of which the constructors direct their efforts, are delay for artificial structures and earthworks, as well as non-completeness with road-building equipment and vehicles, other special machinery. As the road constructors explain, mainly it is connected with the works, unforeseen and non-provided by the design. The works are in prospect for proceeding with the construction of guardrails along centerline.
