The Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan adopted a law "On ratification of the Loan Agreement for reconstruction of Tashkent - Shymkent section of "Western Europe - Western China" international transit corridor with Asian Development Bank" conveys BNews.kz correspondent.
"The length of the ADB-financed section is 37 km. This loan agreement was signed in May 28, 2013. The total loan amount is $ 125 million. The loan is given for 16 years, including a 4-year grace period", reported Mr. Askar Zhumagaliev, Minister of Transport and Communications of Kazakhstan.
He emphasized that the road is of the first technical category with 4-lanes and cement concrete pavement.
"A transport interchange and five cross overs will be constructed on this section. Project implementation period is 2013-2015" - concluded the Minister during his report to the Senate.
The law was unanimously adopted by the deputies of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan.
We remind that the reconstruction of "Western Europe - Western China" international transit corridor started from 2009.
The total length of the corridor on the territory of Kazakhstan is 2,787 km, of which 2,452 km is being reconstructed. For implementation of this project such International Financial Institutions as World Bank, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Islamic Development Bank, Japan International Cooperation Agency, Asian Development Bank were attracted.
Since 2009, 11 loans for the ampount to 4 billion 673 million USD were ratified. 215 km of road in Aktobe region put into operation in 2011; works on 700 km road were completed and opened to traffic in Zhambyl and Kyzylorda regions in 2012.
At present works on 1,854 km of road are being implemented, including the remaining 449 km, where works have been commenced this year. Until the end of 2013 it is planned to put into operation 806 km road in Zhambyl, South Kazakhstan, Kyzylorda and Aktobe oblasts.
In general, the completion of the transport corridor is planned for 2015.
