812 km of "Western Europe - Western China" highway were put into operation in 2013. This was reported by Askar Zhumagaliyev, Minister of Transport and Communications during an extended meeting, delivers the correspondent of BNews.kz.

"Center-South", "Center - East", "Center-West" projects implementation was commenced under Head of State instruction and also "Western Europe - Western China" highway implementation works are being continued actively under the President’s instruction - said A. Zhumagaliyev.

According to him, in 2013, it was managed to put into operation a larger section of the road than it was planned.

"Regarding "Western Europe - Western China" project implementation, according to the plan last year we had to put in proper order, reconstruct and provide passage in 806 km" - he said.

"We were able to fulfil this plan, and 812 km of this highway are put into operation, and today passage had already been organized through them. 35,000 people and 4,000 pieces of equipment were involved in this big project"- said the head of the MoTC.

"This year we plan to provide passage for vehicles at 157 km" - said Askar Zhumagaliyev.
