The project, funded by the European Union, "TRACECA Road Safety II» held a workshop / training course in order to implement the Regional Plan of Action for Road Safety for the Eastern Partnership and Central Asian countries. This three-day course was carried out in "Transport Tower" building in Astana from 1 to 3 October 2014.
The main purpose of this workshop was to identify the main problems in the field of Road safety in Kazakhstan and to develop an effective action plan to improve road safety.
The main topics that were covered during the workshop:
• An overview of the authority, current activities and proposed measures to improve road safety by stakeholders.
• Results Review of the comparative analysis - situation in Kazakhstan compared to the regional average of TRACECA.
• The experience of the TRACECA region and other neighboring countries in addressing issues of Road safety.
• Governance and funding for road safety
• Work in groups to discuss priority actions required in the following sectors:
Sector 1: Institutional Issues
Sector 2: More secure infrastructure
Sector 3: Safer vehicles
Sector 4: Safety of road users
Sector 5: Emergency call service
Sector 6: Changing attitudes

The workshop was attended by representatives of stakeholders responsible for road safety issues, such as the Ministry for Investment and Development of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan, JSC "KazdorNII", the Committee of Emergency Situations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan, JSC "KazAutoZhol", representatives of the World Bank, Asian Development Bank and representatives of public organisations and the Red Cross.
The main purpose of the TRACECA project is ensuring the safety and protection of road users, property, environment and society as a whole, which may be a part of the TRACECA transport corridor or affected by the system.
