«Western Europe – Western China» transport corridor will fully begin to work at the end of 2016. This decision has been approved by the resolution of the government of RK dated 12.02.2014 No. 81. The delay at scale facility commissioning is connected with financing sources, BNews.kz informs. In order to remind, recently at a meeting of Account committee, and later mass media declared, that the project is close to the edge and construction will not be completed in the planned terms.

According to the Ministry of Investments and Development, originally implementation of the project was planned with consideration of different sources of financing, such as concession, investments, etc. Implementation of "Almaty-Khorgos", "Shymkent-Tashkent", "Shymkent-border of Zhambyl district" transport corridor sections reconstruction was planned on a concession basis, however due to the lack of potential concessioners in 2013 the government of RK decided to change financing sources with attraction of loan means of the International financial institutions. Because of these reasons the completion of the project was pushed off for 2016.

According to the developed feasibility study of "Western Europe-Western China" corridor it is stipulated to connect BACH with the corridor after completion of its construction. (length of a section will make 32 km).

Today on BACH tender procedures for definition of the concessioner are being conducted, and the beginning of construction works is planned for the next year.

The section of an exit to BACH does not belong to the main corridor. After construction completion it will be used as connection of "Western Europe - Western China" corridor and the Big Almaty Circuit Highway.

Construction of an exit to BACH does not influence on full use of "Western Europe - Western China" corridor.

During project implementation, considering the expected cargo transportation, the decision of new check point "Nur Zholy" construction was made.

Because of absence of investments and the prolonged beginning of construction process in 2015 on an initiative of MID RK the changes were made to active legislation of RK concerning ensuring of competence of the Ministry for construction of a check point and on attraction of investments. Along with it the Ministry conducted negotiations on attractions of the investor for construction of a check point. As a result the investor defined "EurotransitTerminal" LLP. Today the land plots for construction have been transferred to the investor, who now develops design and estimate documentation.

Realization of "Western Europe – Western China" international transit corridor has begun in 2009 at the request of the Head of state. 2 452 km, from them 1390 km under I-technical category with the 4-lane (from Khorgos on border with China to Kyzylorda) and 1062 km under II technical category (from Kyzylorda to the Martuk v. of  Aktobe region) are subject to reconstruction. From the general corridor extent of 1079 km of roads (from Khorgos to Turkestan) it will be constructed with cement concrete pavement. During the period from 2009 to 2014 the traffic from border of the Russian Federation to Shymkent, including on Zhambyl, Aktobe, Kyzylorda and South-Kazakhstan regions with a general extent of 1884 km was open.
