Dear Turmush,
Samara-Taraz is a bigger part of the Western Europe – Western China International Transit Corridor passing on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Starting from the border with the Russian Federation (Aktobe oblast, Martuk village with exit to Orenburg) the construction has already been completed and the road opened for traffic. The required part of the Corridor passes through Aktobe, Kyzylorda, South-Kazakhstan and Zhambyl oblasts. Regarding the condition of the road, on the one hand, the road is new, pavement is new and its condition is operative, on the other hand, currently there are defects rectification works being carried out pursuant to civil contracts, defects which are identified after the particular period of time upon the construction completion. Although the works on defects rectification may lead to closure of one of road lanes when traffic is transferred to other lane/lanes, such repair works cannot seriously interfere with the traffic flow since ensurance of safety and comfort for road users is the important task and there are bypass roads, special signal and regulation traffic signs and marking.
Meanwhile, full completion of the entire Corridor is expected at the end of 2017 and today road-construction works are being carried out on the Shymkent – Zhambyl oblast section where you partly will use a small section of the existing road.
Western Europe – Western China Project includes development of road infrastructure along the Corridor, namely services like cafes, motels, campings, gas stations, vehicle maintenance at regular interval along the entire route.
It should be mentioned that information is provided for the Kazakhstan’s part of the Corridor only.
Please, do not neglect seat belts, stick to speed limits and follow the road signs. Have a good time and safe trip.
