- How do you do! Will you tell me, please, if the widening has been planned for the most overloaded section, and as the result of it, section of the highest injury rate, of the route “Almaty – Kordai” within construction of Transit Corridor “Western Europe –Western China”. For example, with putting into operation in 2009 the highway Astana-Borovoye, which has 6 lanes, as well as guardrails, accident risk has reduced to 63%, and the death toll reduced for 80%.

To provide traffic safety for the road section “Almaty – Kordai”, considering perspective volume of traffic, in 2006 reconstruction of the road section “Almaty – Bishkek” was carried out with transfer to II technical category, traffic capacity of which has been calculated up to 7 thousand vehicles per day. And since 2011 the works are in progress for reconstruction of “Kordai By-Pass” within construction of International Transit Corridor “Western Europe – Western China”.

Further, to ensure the main road in operating state annual performance of works for maintenance has been provided, and every 4-5 years middle repair of surface with construction of rough surface treatment (RST) with the purpose of reconstruction of wearing pavement layer, as well as works for installation of road signs and carrying-out of road marking.

With the increase of volume of traffic for the highway ‘Almaty – Kordai” over 7 thousand vehicles per day transfer of road into I technical category will be considered.
