Dear Assylbek, the most part of "Western Europe - Western China" section which you are interested has been completed and put into operation. The total length of the "Western Europe - Western China" project is 2,787 km, 2,452 km of which is subject to reconstruction. 215 km of road reconstruction works have been completed before 2012; traffic on 700 km of road has been opened in 2012; it is planned to open traffic on 806 km by the end of 2013; and on 1854 km works have commenced in 2013. If to consider the road under sections, the situation is as follows:

Aktobe oblast:

The length of "Western Europe - Western China" international transit corridor in the Aktobe oblast is 628 km. Works has started in the region in 2010. Full completion is scheduled for late 2013. At this point traffic is open in Aktobe oblast.

Kyzylorda oblast:

Kyzylorda oblast road section is the biggest one of the corridor. The length of road in this oblast is 812 km. Construction works has started in 2010, and full completion is expected in 2014. At the moment traffic in Kyzylorda oblast is open.

South Kazakhstan oblast:

The length of South Kazakhstan oblast section is 448 km. The road will be the first technical category with four-lanes. At the moment works are held in the section of 318 km, including “border of Kyzylorda oblast - Shymkent" section with the length of 239 km, and “Shymkent – border of Zhambyl oblast” with the length of 79 km. Concerning “border of Kyzylorda oblast – Shymkent” road secion is open, and it is expected to be completed in 2013; with regard to “Shymkent – border of Zhambyl oblast” (79 km) the works has started this year and is expected to be completed in 2015.

Zhambyl oblast:

The length of the Zhambyl oblast section is 495 km. At the moment works are held on 6 sections with the length of 280 km. To date since the beginning of the project 262 km of road have been bulit, and by the end of the year it is planned to complete the works on 119 km. Construction works in Zhambyl oblast have commenced in 2009. Full completion is expected in 2015. To date traffic through Zhambyl oblast is open.
