One of the road projects of "Nurly Zhol" program is "Center-South" direction from Astana to Almaty with the length of about 1,200 km, and Astana-Temirtau section (157 km) of this corridor will be updated by the beginning of next year in anticipation of the EXPO-2017. BNews.kz correspondent introduces readers with one of the thousands of people who embody the goals of the program to life.
"Nurly Zhol - Path to the Future" state program of infrastructure development is to form a high-quality transport network of the country - roads linking Astana with the regions of Kazakhstan by ray principle, which would reduce the economic distance between the cities. About 2.4 trillion tenge is allocated for the repair of more than 7 thousand kilometers of state highways.
"NC" KazAvtoZhol" JSC is engaged in formation of road corridors of the country supported by the Ministry of Investment and Development of Kazakhstan. One of the "Nurly Zhol" road projects is "Center-South" direction from Astana to Almaty with the length of about 1,200 km, and Astana-Temirtau section (157 km) of this corridor will be updated by the beginning of next year in anticipation of the EXPO-2017.
The photos below show reconstructed portions of Astana-Temirtau section.
The peculiarity of the new road corridors is that it is not usual asphalt pavement but cement concrete pavement. The advantages of cement-concrete roads are high strength, evenness, and at the same time adequate roughness that provides a good adherence of tires with the road surface. So, by the beginning of next year, an ordinary two-lane Astana-Temirtau road will become four-lane, with curved bars that separate the oncoming lane, thus three times reducing the likelihood of accidents. Fences are installed along the road, which will not allow the animal to run out into the road, because they are often the cause of accidents.
By the way, Kazakhstan is one of the first in the postsoviet space that got a cement-concrete roads, in 2007 concrete pavement is laid on Astana-Schuchinsk highway. Anuar Daribekov is the head of one of the sections for paving concrete on Astana-Temirtau section. He is experienced enough in this - he is involved in construction of roads for 13 years. Moreover, it so happened that Daribekov witnessed the significant opening in road sphere of our country.
"Initially, I was engaged in the construction of railroads. I remember a new branch of Khromtau-Altynsarin, which in 2006 put into operation. This was an important event for our country, because the railway directly linked with steel trunk routes Aktobe and Kostanay regions. And at the same time West Kazakhstan connected with North Kazakhstan. I started to construct "Western Europe-Western China" international transit corridor, which will open soon. I also participated in the very first cement concrete pavement on Astana-Schuchinsk road - participated in the construction of this track"- says Anuar.
Anuar Daribekov native of Karaganda, graduated from the Kazakh Academy of Transport and Communications in Astana. The second education received in the Kazakh University of paths and communications at the Faculty of Construction of roads and airfield in Zhezkazgan. Road Engineer admitted that before he dreamed of becoming a surgeon, but he did not have enough points for admission to medical school. By chance, he was in the Academy of Transport and Communications, and now, after so many years of hard work on the dusty roads, he does not regret about nothing.
"I have been doing this job more than ten years, and I really like it. Besides, I became part of a large-scale national program "Nurly Zhol". Yes, it's not easy, but I'm glad that I can be useful to the state"- says Anuar.
He said that he was not always the "chief", his journey began with a simple worker, now Anuar has its team of 30 people.
"My day starts at 5.30 am with a cup of coffee. Then go to work, first we have morning planning session - the hardest part of organizing activity, it is necessary to plan the scope and types of work. But we deal, because my team has been working more than a year with me. Later, there is a distribution of truck-loading equipment, trucks. First of all, preparatory work is carried out on the road - paver operators, or machinists as the common people say, prepare for grinding of the total concrete launch, they lubricate, clean, lay textile, supply dowels, anchors for concrete pavement binding. Overall preparatory work takes 5-6 hours. Further paving is carried out and there should not be any delay here - the concrete hardens within 40 minutes, after this it is no longer suitable. The shift lasts 10 hours, during which time we go through an average of 450 meters", - says Anuar Daribekov.
According to him, the main challenge is not volume physical load to road engineer but delivery of the results to technical supervision service.
"Nowadays 70% of the work is done by the equipment, and if it works properly, there are no special difficulties. But the most difficult time is handover, when technical supervision service checks your work. Basically, their comments are advisory in nature; the most important thing is not to deviate from the construction regulations (SNIP). And for this I am here to follow the proper progress of work and to apply my experience"- notes Road Engineer.
He had a considerable experience, for a total of 13 years Anuar laid over 300 km of road and more than 500 km of railway lines. Our hero worked abroad as well.
"I worked in Georgia and Ukraine. I took part in the construction of the Donetsk airport. Speaking of concrete pavement - for the countries of the former Soviet Union is a novelty, and we were the first to use it, even though it is no longer "know-how" in the world - says Anuar.
Anuar Daribekova has huge plans - to improve professionally, realizing himself in new projects.
"Until 2020, it is planned to construct 7,000 km of roads under "Nurly Zhol" program. After Astana-Temirtau section I would like to take part in other projects of the program. I'd like to do something useful for the next generation, especially since many of us have children - and everyone wants to live in the best conditions, travel on good roads"- says Anuar with a smile.
After talking with a correspondent, Anuar went to his team, to the pavers and noisy machines - for the evening shift, to lay the roads under floodlights.
By the way, not only Astana-Temirtau section construction will be completed this year.
Kazakhstan motorists will be able to evaluate the quality of Almaty-Kapchagai, Almaty-Taldykorgan, Beineu-Aktau, Astana-Petropavlovsk roads. Also the largest bridge in Central Asia across the Irtysh River will be opened on Astana-Pavlodar road.
It shall be recalled that "Nurly Zhol" economic policy announced in November 2014 by the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev has become a major regulator of country’s infrastructural development.
Development of transport and logistics infrastructure is one of the seven major program areas. By 2020, it is planed to implement 11 road projects in Kazakhstan.
Five of them are planned to be completed by the end of this year.
About 100 billion tenge from the funds of "Nurly Zhol" program have been disbursed already.
