Until the end of 2016 the traffic will be open throughout "Western Europe - Western China" transit corridor (2787 km in four lanes).

In addition, the traffic will be open on Shymkent – Tashkent section (100 km, 4 lanes), on the roads of Almaty - Kapshagay (104 km, 6-lane traffic) and Kapshagay - Taldykorgan (141 km), Astana - Temirtau (171 km), Aktau - Beyneu (470 km, 4-lane traffic).

Astana - Kokshetau - Petropavlovsk corridor (489 km) is fully open, where the traffic is carried out on 6, 4 and 2 lanes. This was reported on the official website of Prime Minister.

At the Government House under the chairmanship of the First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Mr. Askar Mamin held a teleconference on national and local road network development and roadside service facilities.

During the meeting were presented reports of the Minister for Investments and Development of Kazakhstan by Zhenis Kassymbek, Vice Minister for Investments and Development of Kazakhstan Mr. Berik Kamaliyev, Chairman of the Board of JSC "NC" KazAvtoZhol" Mr. Yermek Kizatov, regional managers.

According to reports, all the plans for the reconstruction of roads in the current year are implemented. By the results of 2016 reconstruction of 924 km of national roads is completed.

Until the end of 2016 traffic will be open throughout "Western Europe - Western China" corridor, in sections of "Center - South" corridor: Astana - Temirtau and Almaty - Kapshagay. In the west, traffic will be open on Aktau - Beineu road. Currently Kokshetau - Petropavlovsk road is open. Bridges across the river Tobol in Kostanay and across the river Irtysh in Pavlodar region are put in to operation.

This year, overhaul, medium and current repir was performed on 1,200 km of national roads.

In 2017, it is planned to reconstruct more than 2 thousand km of national roads and put into operation 555 km, including "Center - East" corridor - 208 km, Kapshagay - Taldykorgan - 24 km, Beineu - Aktau - 230 km, Korday bypass - 40 km, Uralsk - Kamenka - 27 km and Aktobe - Atyrau - 26 km.

"We also plan to begin reconstruction of the new sections of the" Southwestern bypass of Astana”, Zhetybai - Zhanaozen, Beineu - Akzhigit, Kostanay - Denisovka, Taldykorgan - Oskemen, Kurty - Burylbaytal and others" – reported Vice Minister.

Local road network development issues were discussed during the meeting. The total length of local roads network in Kazakhstan is 72.8 thousand km.

Road-repair works on local network today covers more than 2 thousand km of roads, including those under construction and reconstruction of 130 km, capital and average repair 1884 km.

However, it was noted that there is insufficient financing from the local budget in Akmola, Aktobe, West Kazakhstan, Kostanai and Pavlodar oblasts.

A. Mamin said that ensuring adequate quality of local roads is a priority of the industry. In this connection, the oblast akimats have been instructed to increase funding from local budget for the development, repair and maintenance of local roads in 2017.

According to roadside service development issues, it was noted that there is steady increase in freight traffic at 6% annually on republican roads in recent years.

In order to provide haulers further modern, high-quality services on the road in 2015 National standard of RK for roadside service was approved.

Today, about 2.5 thousand service facilities are operating in the country, mostly gas stations and marketplaces and catering, 80% of which do not meet the requirements of approved standards.

According to "Nurly Zhol" program until 2020, 260 priority service facilities meeting the standard will be placed on main roads.

For their uniform placement these facilities layout under categories of A, B, C and D have been developed in consultation with local authorities and approved by order of the Minister of Investments and Development of Kazakhstan.

On the basis of regional event plans in December this year "KazAvtoZhol" intends to submit draft roadside service Programme of until 2020to the authorized body, including development of the primary road service facilities and modernization of existing facilities, where more than 20 thousand people are engaged.

Summing up teleconference, the first deputy prime minister noted that "significant work to modernize the road infrastructure of Kazakhstan was done in 2016". At the same time, he gave a number of instructions: The Ministry for Investments and Development of Kazakhstan in cooperation with local authorities and JSC "NC" KazAvtoZhol" shall ensure timely commencement of construction in 2017.

Up to April 1, 2017 to approve roadside service development program along international and republican roads until 2020 and Action Plan for its implementation.
