The Republic of Kazakhstan and the Asian Development Bank signed a Loan Agreement for the reconstruction of the road “Aktobe – Makat”.
The road section “Aktobe-Makat” of 299 km length is part of the republican road “Aktobe – Atyrau - border of the Russian Federation (Astrakhan)” and passes through Aktobe and Atyrau oblasts.
The project is being implemented under the State Program of the Infrastructure Development “Nurly Zhol” for the years 2015-2019 and the Cooperation Program for Development of Kazakhstan as part of the Framework Partnership Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the International Financial Organizations.
The project will enable the tasks to create the advanced infrastructure of the transport system. Modernization of the Transit Corridor will create opportunities for the expansion and deepening of the interstate and trade relation and will provide the Caspian region access to the markets of China, Russia and the countries of Southeast Asia, as it will be attached to the Transport Corridor “Western Europe - Western China”.
The estimated costs amount will total US$273 065 thousand, including the Asian Development Bank loan – US$240 300 thousand, the co-financing of the Loan from the state budget - 32 765 thousand.
Committee for Roads of the Ministry of Investment and Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan has started selection of contractors, as well as a consultant for construction supervision. The contracts will be concluded after the Loan Agreement has entered into force.
