Otar - Uzynagash Road Project has a total length of 96 km (I category with 4 lanes) and is a part of ALMATY-KORDAY-BLAGOVESCHENKA-MERKE-TASHKENT-TERMEZ republican road.
This section is one of the projects of “Nurly Zhol” State Infrastructure Development Program.
According to adminisrtative division 80 km of designed section pass through the territory of Zhambyl district of Almaty Oblast and 16 km pass through Korday district of Zhambyl Oblast.

- Length – 96 km;
- Subgrade width – 27,5 m;
- Number of traffic lanes – 4;
- Dividing strip width – 5 m;
- Bridges and overpasses;
- Culverts;
- Type of road pavement – asphalt-concrete – 80 km, cement concrete – 16 km.
Two bypasses of villages are stipulated by design.
Straightening and bypass for Samsy village will be km 63+129 - 78+631 (the length of the bypass will be 15.502 km);
Bypass for Targap village will be km 89+751 - 98+049 (the length of the bypass will be 8.298 km).
At the moment, all necessary positive expertise has been received under design documentation for the implementation of the “Uzynagash-Otar” section, and the project is supported by the Republican Budget Commission.
In order to select contractors and construction supervision consultants, international competitive bidding is conducted according to the rules of the World Bank. Under construction works, the prequalification report was sent to the Bank for approval. Under consultancy services, the opening of the 2nd stage is planned for May 15, 2017. It is planned to sign Contracts after ratification by the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the entry into force of the Loan Agreement.
This project is part of "Western Europe-Western China" International transit corridor. The purpose of the corridor is providing separate road through Western China, Kazakhstan and Russia under any weather conditions. Economic researces showed that project will have significant benefits for the region by growth of economically active population, development of roadside service, and improve social communication between China and Kazakhstan.
It is planned to complete consruction works under this section in 2021.
