The length of public roads network of the Republic of Kazakhstan is 96.5 thousand kilometers.
New, modern, high-speed roads in the Republic have been constructed and reconstructed and being constructed now under the Nurly Zhol Infrastructure Development Program.
Since 2010, about 5 thousand kilometers of the Republican roads have been rehabilited and reconstructed in Kazakhstan. There are key projects such is Western Europe - Western China, Center - South, Center - East, Beineu - Aktau, Almaty - Ust-Kamenogorsk, Astana - Petropavlovsk, Zhezkazgan - Petropavlovsk, Aktobe - Atyrau and Uralsk - Kamenka.
In 2015-2016, 616 billion tenge have been allocated for road projects. Currently, traffic along the Western Europe -Western China Corridor has been opened as well as the sections Astana-Temirtau, Almaty-Kapshagai, Kapshagai-Balpyk bi, Beyneu-Shetpe, Kokshetau-Petropavlovsk, and the 12-kilometer largest in Central Asia passage over Irtysh river in Pavlodar.
This year more than 356 billion tenge have been allocated for the projects of the State Program.
Construction of 602 kilometers of roads, and Beineu-Aktau and Almaty-Taldykorgan highways will be completed by the end of 2017.
Thus, the country is establishing a logistic road asset management system of roads, railways, seaports and transport centers. In 2015, the construction of a dry port and infrastructure has been completed in the FEZ Khorgos - Eastern Gate. FEZ Khorgos – Eastern Gate in conjunction with the Western Europe - Western China Corridor contributes in enhancement of transit traffic.
The country sea gate capacity increase up to 26 million ton is planned to be reached by 2020.
