The Senate adopted amendments to the Loan agreement: "East-West Road Development Project (Almaty-Khorgos Section): Western Europe-Western China International Transit Corridor (CAREC 1b)."
“Balkhash-Burybaital” section, 297 km long, will be repaired at the expense of savings from the loan of the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development. This was announced at the plenary session of the Senate by Zhenis Kassymbek, the Minister for Investment and Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, reports BNews.kz.
It is worth noting that the main Loan Agreement was signed on October 10, 2012 in the amount of 1,068 million US dollars, which were allocated for the reconstruction of Almaty-Khorgos section with a length of 304 km.
"Financing of Balkhash-Burybaital section with a length of 297 km is planned from savings, for which a letter of agreement between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development was signed on May 23, 2018" said Zhenis Kassymbek.
The project envisages the construction of a road with 4-lane traffic and asphalt concrete pavement, including bypasses of settlements of Balkhash and Saryshagan, 21 bridges, overpasses and transport interchanges.
At present, construction work is being carried out on Temirtau-Karaganda and Burylbaital-Kurty road sections with a length of 289 km.
In addition, next year it is planned to commence construction of Karaganda-Balkhash, Balkhash-Burylbaital and Kurty-Kapshagai roads with a length of 727 km.
As previously reported, 490 million USD will be allocated for the reconstruction of Balkhash-Burybaital section.
