In the framework of the Project, reconstruction of 763 km of the Taldykorgan-Kalbatau-Ust-Kamenogorsk road is planned, where 313.5 km are in Almaty region, and 449.5 km are in the East Kazakhstan region.

Currently, reconstruction works are carried out on 313.5 km of the Taldykorgan-Kalbatau-Ust-Kamenogorsk road in Almaty region. The General Contractor is CITIC Construction Co, LTD.

The road workers construct the bypass roads. Removing of topsoil within the right-of-way of the main road, milling of the road pavement, filling of the subgrade, and construction of culverts have started. In addition, road construction materials, bitumen and reinforced concrete products are prepared.

After reconstruction, 31 km of the road will be I-b Category, and the remaining 282 km will be II Category. Two two-level interchange will be constructed on this road section, and 21 bridges and 404 culverts will be reconstructed.

It is to be recalled that this road section runs to the tourism cluster of Almaty region, Alakol Lake, which last year was visited by 1.2 million tourists, both local and foreign. This year, tourist flow of 1.5-1.8 million people is expected.
