Aktobe-Atyrau-border of the Russian Federation (to Astrakhan) Republican Road to be Widened by 9 Meters

To date, reconstruction works are carried out on the 319 km section of Aktobe - Atyrau - border of the Russian Federation (to Astrakhan) republican road in Aktobe region. This road is an international corridor connecting Central Asia with Europe, as well as a “gateway” to the Russian Federation.

 

After reconstruction, the road Category will change from III to II, road carriageway will be widened by 9 meters and design speed be up to 120 km/h.

Road for reconstruction are divided into 7 sections, where 1 road section is completed, construction and installation works are carried out on 4 road sections of 230 km long.

The Loan provided by the International Financial Institution, namely Asian Development Bank has been used for reconstruction of km 160-220, 236-275, 275-330 road sections.

The Project provides for technical solutions adopted for the remaining sections, km 11-52, km 52-100 (Aktobe-Kandyagash), resulted in reconstruction of roads from Category III to Category I with four lane traffic. The project is at the stage of preparation of bidding documentation for the selection of Contractors.

Reconstruction of the International Transit Corridor will allow increasing the connecting and goods traffic between Kazakhstan, China, Russia and Western Europe, and improve the transport conditions for the population and local businesses.
