The work results in the road industry and tasks for 2020 under the Nurly Zhol Government Program for 2020 - 2025 were discussed during a meeting chaired by the Prime Minister Askar Mamin.

The Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development Beibut Atamkulov said that the implementation of Nurly Zhol Government Infrastructure Development Program “” for 2015-2019 was completed in 2019, under which 3,000 km of roads were constructed and reconstructed, about 7,000 km of republican roads and 15,000 km of local roads.

According to the Nurly Zhol Government Program for Infrastructure Development for 2020-2025, the road sector has large-scale tasks. The plan includes reconstruction of 10,000 km and repair 11,000 km of the republican roads and repair 27,000 km of local network roads. In 2020, construction work will cover 4,000 kilometers of roads: Karaganda-Balkhash-Kapshagai, Aktobe-Atyrau-Astrakhan, Taldykorgan – Ust-Kamenogorsk, Kalbatau-Maikapshagai, Kokshetau-Petropavlovsk-Kurgan, Uzynagash-Otar, Merke-Burylbaital, Kostanai-Denisovka, Usharal-Dostyk. The traffic is planned to be open on totally 2,600 km.

This year, 1,500 km of the republican roads will be overhauled and repaired to restore and maintain the technical condition of the roads. Also 4,300 km of regional and district significance will be repaired. Totally, about 100,000 people will be involved in road construction works of the republican and local network this year. At the same time, there is a shortage of 2,636 qualified specialists, namely road-construction machinery drivers, dump truck drivers, concrete and asphalt plant operators.

Managers of Contractors implementing road projects told that they are preparing for the upcoming road construction season, about living conditions at the sites and salaries payment matters.

Akims of Almaty, East Kazakhstan, Karaganda and Zhambyl oblasts also informed about the training of local workers for ongoing projects. The Head of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan instructed to take the necessary measures to successfully implement the road projects in the country.

Deliberate preparations for construction season are required to timely and efficiently complete the tasks and ensure that the main projects for the modernization of roads are completed by the end of the year»,  - said Askar Mamin
