Toll roads made more than 5 billion Tenge

By the last year-end, tolls collected on the existing four toll roads, Nur-Sultan-Schuchinsk, Nur-Sultan - Temirtau, Almaty-Khorgos and Almaty-Kapshagai amounted to 5.4 billion tenge.

3.8 billion tenge out of the total amount have been allocated for the maintenance of toll roads, and 1.6 billion for the maintenance of the tolling system.

Compared to the same period in 2018, toll roads made 3.5 times more money. That time tolling system was introduced only on the Nur-Sultan-Schuchinsk road in Kazakhstan, which made 1.5 billion tenge annually. Today, the length of toll roads in the country is 682 kilometers.

In December last year, after the bidding process ended, an Agreement was signed with a Consortium for establishment and maintenance of the Toll Systems on 11,000 kilometers of roads. According to the Agreement, the Toll Systems are going to be installed on the reconstructed road sections of total 5,700 km long this year.  The remaining 5,300 km will become toll roads by 2024, after completion of reconstruction works.

It shall be noted that the system will unburden the Government budget from the annual fund allocation for the maintenance of toll roads. Therefore, the maintenance will be provided at the expense of the funds collected.
