The large-scale Kandyagash-Makat Road Project (km 160-504) is being implemented under the Nurly Zhol Government Infrastructure Development Program. The Project road is divided into 7 sections, and the total length of them is 299 kilometers. The General Contractors are Todini, Shanghai, Ant, Akzhol and ICIC Akkord.
From the beginning of the Project, 3,909,800 m3 earthworks has been completed. The subgrade on 144.7 km of the road, the subbase on 125.4 km, the upper base layer on 108.8 km and the binder on 99.7 km have also been constructed. In addition, the road workers have constructed 68 culverts.
The Contractors have procured 450,630 m3 of crushed stone, 2,360 m3 of reinforced concrete products, as well as 2,310 tons of bitumen for the construction season of this year.
The 154-kilometer section of the Kandyagash-Makat road is planned to be open for traffic by the end of 2020, and the works will continue on the remaining road sections.
After the completion of the Project in 2021, the Republican road will be of Category II.
It is planned to involve 1,500 employees in the road reconstruction, out of which 1,420 are the local population.
It may be mentioned that, 4,000 kilometers of roads will be constructed and reconstructed in Kazakhstan in 2020; the traffic is planned to open on over 2,000 kilometers.
