The reconstruction of the 342 km Taldykorgan-Usharal-Alakol road tending to the resort area at the lake in Almaty oblast is in progress. The Project is important for the development of the tourism potential of the region.

The road was built in the 70s of the last century. Since then, the reconstruction had not been carried out here until 2018. The works are being carried out by CITIC Construction Co., ABK Autodor NS LLP and Kyran LLP. The project employs 2,000 Nos. of Personnel and 800 Nos. of Equipment.

At the moment, a high rate of construction works has been achieved, the contractors are constructing asphalt concrete pavement courses. This year it is planned to open traffic along the entire length of the road.

After reconstruction is over in 2021, the road will be of Category II. Thus, the travel time from Taldykorgan to Alakol will be reduced to three hours. The Taldykorgan - Usharal - Alakol road project will be a new step towards the development of the economic and tourism potential not only of the Almaty region, but also of Kazakhstan as a whole.
