The World Bank intends to continue investing in infrastructure projects in Kazakhstan

Two projects are currently being developed for the reconstruction of Zhezkazgan-Karaganda highway and the construction of a bypass around Turkestan town.

Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kairbek Uskenbayev met with representatives of the World Bank, the press service of the MIID reports.

During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of cooperation in the implementation of infrastructure projects to support the World Bank in investing in priority railways. Projects related to green development were also considered, including energy efficiency, green transport and housing and communal services.

“The Ministry works on two infrastructure projects for the reconstruction of Zhezkazgan-Karaganda highway and the construction of a bypass around Turkestan town. According to the project Zhezkazgan - Karaganda, design estimates are being developed. The project is divided into 12 sections, we plan a phased completion date for the design work in the period 2022-2023,” the head of the department shared.

The MIID noted that they are taking measures to save energy and improve energy efficiency. A roadmap for energy saving and energy efficiency improvement for 2022–2026 is also being developed.
