The Directors of the Departments for Roads, Contractors, Engineers of the Construction Supervision Consultants of two regions of the Republic (South-Kazakhstan and Zhambyl), as well as the Engineers of the Project Management Consultant, SNC Lavalin, took part in that workshop.

Initiator of this arrangement is South-Korean construction company «POSCO Engineering & Construction CO», which sent Mr. Kim Kwang Don, teacher of Civil Engineering Department Djungbu University, Doctor of Technical Sciences, to their office in South region of Kazakhstan.

Mr. Kim Kwang Don, well-known specialist for reinforced concrete structures in South Korea, has been studying for a month peculiarities of climate for sough region of our republic, impact of environment, particularly volume of moisture and air temperature, wind speed over the quality of concrete pavement.

Based on the learnt, on the results of his observations and laboratory research of the initial period for revealing of the concrete strength, the scientist has developed a number of recommendations. The most principal ones are measures for elimination of cracks on cement concrete pavement.

He proposed a number of valuable and tested in practice recommendations for arrangement of functional joint (expansion joint), for materials of interlayer between base and cement concrete pavement. Also, recommendations were given for the time of chasing of transversal and longitudinal joints after arrangement of concrete (cement concrete pavement).
Kim Kwang Don answered a number of questions regarding new technologies and modern construction materials.
