The meeting “About progress of implementation for the Project “Western Europe – Western China” in South-Kazakhstan Oblast” has been conducted under the chair of Berik Kamaliev, Minister of Transport and Communications of the RK.
The meeting, regarding matters for implementation of the Project ‘Western Europe – Western China”, was conducted on December 10, 2011 in South-Kazakhstan Oblast, with the participation of Berik Kamaliev, Minister of Transport and Communications of the RK, and Askar Myrzakhmetov, Akim of South-Kazakhstan Oblast.
During the meeting Zamir Saginov, Chairman of the Committee for Roads of MTC RK, made a report about the current status of implementation for the Project of International Transit Corridor “Western Europe – Western China” and the work of the Contractors.
References: Total length of Transit Corridor throughout the region is448 km. Construction works are executed for 6 road sections with total length of 224 km («Dena Rahsaz» (Iran), JV «Copri/Seiser» (Kuwait/Kazakhstan), «POSCO Ltd» (Korea), «Sinohydro Corporation Limited» (China), «Kukdong Ltd.» (Korea) and JV «Azerkorpu/Tepe» (Azerbaijan/Trkey). Plan for arrangement of pavement for these sections in the current year is 55 km (in one direction).
As per status for December 6, 2011, it is arranged:
- subgrade – 4.5 million m3;
- subbase – 96.8 km;
- base course – 77.3 km;
- high porous asphalt concrete course – 31.2 km;
- coarse-grained asphalt concrete course – 27 km
- cement concrete pavement – 21.8 km.
Total pavement is 48.8 km. Total number of mobilized road-building machinery and equipment is 1271 units. Total number of the staff for the Contractors, involved in the Project at present, is 4 087 people, including 3 145 people or 77% of local staff. Also, during the meeting the matter of land acquisition has been considered, based on the results of which the joint plan-schedule for acquisition has been signed.
