Reconstruction of International Transit Corridor “Western Europe – Western China” has become the most large-scale Project of Road Sector, with the length of 8445 km. Kazakhstan section of the Corridor is 2787 км, out of which 2452 km are subject to reconstruction. The project will allow reducing time for cargo transportation from China to Europe in 3.5 times compared with sea way, i.e. from 40 days of sea way to 10 days by land. In 2005 under the auspices of Road Transport International Union the first demonstration race (motor caravan) along the route Beijing – Khorgos – Astana – Moscow – Riga – Vilnius – Berlin – Brussels was carried out. After completion of the demonstration race the real possibility has been visually proved for development of motor transportation from China to Western Europe. Therefore, in modern conception the idea of restoration of Silk Way is considerably larger thaт the notion of reanimation of historical routes. The historical experience shows that the global trade-transport systems, such as Silk Way in ancient times, are the foundation for development of a new system for relations in Eurasian area, based on openness, transparency, close partnership, peace and harmony.
