For all road sections of the constructed route “Western Europe – Western China” of Zhambyl Oblast there will be a closed barrier guardrails along central median strip

Such decision has been adopted aiming at traffic safety, as well as due to frequent traffic accidents on the roads of Oblast.

For the last three years 20 traffic accidents have been committed on the highway of republican importance “Almaty-Tashkent” in Zhambyl Oblast through the drivers’ fault of passenger vehicles, registered in South-Kazakhstan Oblast, which differ in special burden of consequences. 36 people died and 17 were injured in this traffic accidents. Such information has been published by the press-service of Akim of the region.

According to this information, grader collided with two intercity buses of SKO at the 939 km of the highway Western Europe – Western China on the 24th February in the evening time – three people dies and 22 people were injured.

In his interview to Kazakh Information Agency, Kanat Bozumbaev, Akim of the Oblast, told that Zhambyl section of the highway of republican importance “Almaty-Tashkent” complies with all the requirements for safety and has been equipped with all necessary road structures, signs and markings. He also mentioned the fact that carriers do in practice re-equipment of passenger vehicles for cargo-and-passenger ones, often without endorsement with road police agencies, without consideration of requirements for traffic safety. The drivers ignore Traffic Regulations. Low level of driving culture, non-satisfactory technical conditions are the reasons for Traffic Accidents, including those with especially serious consequences.

As the specialists, carrying out road-construction works on the territory of Oblast within the Western Europe – Western China Project, comment the main causes for road transport accidents are non-observance of speed regime by the drivers of the vehicles, i.e. negligence of the Traffic Regulations.

Aiming at traffic safety, protection of people’s life and health, the Employer, Contractors and Engineer’s Services for construction Supervision of Western Europe – Western China International Transit Corridor in 2012 have adopted the decision to construct closed barrier guardrails along central median strip for all its sections. That is originally similar guardrails have been only partial, but now they are being constructed wherever it is possible.
