Construction of 241.4 km of a new road has been fully completed in South-Kazakhstan Oblast, and the traffic has been open for 217.8 km

These road sections have been implemented on account of the funds of International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD). The works for implementation of the Project started in 2011. The same year 50 km of road in one direction have been constructed (24.8 km of cement concrete pavement, 25.2 km of asphalt concrete pavement), and the traffic has been open for 38 km.

The builders completed 2012 with construction of 241.4 km of a new road. The traffic has been open for 217.8 km. Reconstruction of the highway M-32 “Samara – Shymkent” has been planned to complete in autumn of the current year, i.e. 2013. 

More than 4 thousand people have been mobilized for this project, including 80% of the local staff.

As per status for May 3 of the current year, more than 60% of annual demand for road-building materials has been procured. Also 16.6 km of base course, 21.5 km of cement concrete pavement and 8.3 km of coarse-grained asphalt concrete CSMA have been constructed.

At present bidding procedures are in progress for the road section “Shymkent – Border of Zhambyl Oblast” with the length of 79.5 km. Also preparation for bidding procedures is in progress within agreements with Asian Bank for Development and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for the road section “Tashkent – Shymkent” with the length of 100 km. 

References: The length of the highways of republican importance for South-Kazakhstan Oblast is 786 км. Including 448 km, which are subject to reconstruction within implementation of Western Europe – Western China International Transit Corridor Project. For the rest of 338 km, which have been serviced by SKO Branch RGI “Kazakhavtodor”, the works are in progress for their maintenance.

At present the works for Western Europe – Western China Project are in progress for 7 road sections with total length of 239 km («Dena Rahsaz» (Iran), JV «Coрri/ Seiser» (Kuweit/Kazakhstan), «POSKO Ltd» (South Korea), «Sinohydro Corporation Limited» (China), «Kukdong Ltd» (South Korea) and JV «Azerkorpu/Tepe» (Azerbijan/Turkey), JV «АКМ-Planum» (Kazakhstan/Cyprus)).

Construction Supervision Consultants control the quality of the executed works and road-building materials. Construction has been supervised by the joint companies for 3 Contracts: “Kazdorproject” LLP (Kazakhstan) / «Institute IGH d.d.» (Croatia) / «Kyrgyzdorproject» LLP (Kyrgyzstan) 129.7 km («Dena Rahsaz», «Copri/Seiser», «Posco»),and 4 Contracts have been supervised by «Kazdorproject» LLP (Kazakhstan) / «Scott Wilson Ltd» (Great Britain) / «Gzamshenproject» (Georgia) 94.3 km («АКМ-Planum», «Sinohydro», «Azerkorpu/Tepe», «Kukdong»).
