Forum was held under the chair of Mr. Azat Bekturov, Vice Minister of Transport and Communications of the RK. Representative of the Ministry, JSC “Kazakhstan Temir Zholy”, Aktau International Sea Trade Port, International airport “Aktau”, diplomatic missions in Kazakhstan, as well as Transport Departments of countries-participants of Istanbul process and transport cargo companies took part in it.
As it has been mentioned, Western Europe – Western China Road is the main highway, one of five International Transit Corridors (Southern, Central Asian, Northern Corridor TAZhM, North-South and TRACECA). It is the shortest way which provides connection of Central Asian countries with Europe, as well as exit of South-East Asian countries to Europe. Total length of the Corridor is 8 445 km, on the territory of Kazakhstan – 2 787 km. It has been planned that the Project will be fully completed in 2015.
References: Reconstruction of the main road “Western Europe – Western China” was started in 200, initiated by the Head of the State, Mr. Nursultan Nazarbayev. It is him, who five centuries later, proposed to revive an idea of “Great Silk Way” – trade road, connecting West and East. It has been resulted in a number of memorandums with neighboring countries, and an agreement has been achieved regarding commencement of project implementation. ‘Western Europe – Western China” is the quickest road for transportation of cargo from China to Europe. It takes 10 days to cover this road along the Corridor, whereas it takes 15 days to cover the distance by railroad and 45 days by the sea.
