"Shymkent – border of Zhambyl oblast" road consists of two sections: section km 593-632 (lot 1) (located at Tulkibas raion) and section km 632-674 (lot 2) (located at the territory of Tulkibas and Sairam raions). According to the SNiP standard these sections are Ib technical category (4 lanes). The project involves construction of 5 bridges, 15 overpasses and 7 interchanges in two sections. The total length of road is 81 km.

These sections of road are financed from the savings of the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (World Bank) loan # 7681-KZ of 2009. The act "On ratification of the letter of agreement between Kazakhstan and the World Bank" under the project was ratified in May 23, 2013.

According to the results of the bidding for consultant selection, Kazakhstan Road Research Institute (KazdorNII) in association with “Sapa SZ” of Kazakhstan have been awarded Project Management Consultancy Services Contract (PMC) and “Temelsu International Engineering Services Inc” (Turkey) in association with “Consult Ltd.” LLP (Kazakhstan) is selected as Construction Supervision Consultant (CSC) for the project execution.

The Contract for Lot 1 has been awarded to JV “Dena Rahsaz” (Iran) & “Sargin” (Turkey); the Contract for Lot 2 has been awarded to “Sinohydro Corporation Limited” (China) based on the International Competitive Bidding process.

PMC and CSC have started their work on 9^th and 12^th September 2013 respectively.

At present the Contractors are being mobilized in relation to their equipment, personnel and setting up of the site offices. The Construction works will complete in 24 months period.
