74 billion tenge was allocated this year for Western Europe-Western China transcontinental corridor project. To date, 26 km of pavement has been constructed. This was informed during a press conference in Central Communication Service by Chairman of Committee of roads of the Ministry of Investment and Development of the RoK Mr. Mereke Pshembayev, reports BNews.kz correspondent.
"About 270 billion tenge has been allocated for the road projects implementation, including from the National Fund -178 bln. tenge. 85 billion tenge disbursed as of June 1, 2015. To date, overall 34 contractors and 64 subcontracting companies are involved in our projects. About 30 thousand work places were created, more than 5000 road construction equipment are involved.
The largest project in our industry is a Western Europe-Western China transcontinental corridor, stretching over 2787 kilometers. In the current year 74 billion tenge is allocated to implement the project. To date, 26 km of pavement has been constructed", - said M. Pshembayev.
According to the Chairman of the Committee of roads, for the period of implementation from 2009 to 2014 road was opened to traffic from the Russian border to Shymkent with the length of 1883 km in Aktobe, Kyzylorda and South Kazakhstan regions. Pshembayev noted that work is proceeding in the current year on 570 km – they are sections of Shymkent-Tashkent, Uzbekistan border and Shymkent-Taraz.
"As the result of 2015 it is planned to open traffic at the section Shymkent-Taraz, including Taraz bypass, with the length of 183 km. Full completion of works on sections of Shymkent- Tashkent and Almaty-Khorgos is planned in 2016 and will be fully open to traffic under transit corridor", - said M. Pshembayev.
